You just published your blog post. Now what to do next?
Easy, the next step is to let people know about your blog post and try to draw their attention towards it.
But this is something that a lot of beginner bloggers struggles a lot with – PROMOTION.
“How and where do I promote my blog posts?”
“How do I bring traffic to my blog?”
These are some common questions in every (beginner) bloggers’ mind so I thought why not help you out a little bit. That’s why I am creating this list of top 10 sites where you can promote your blog without spending a single buck.
There are two main ways by which you can promote your blogpost:
- Through different websites.
- Through social media.
In this post, we’ll talk about different websites which you can use to promote your blogposts.
Before moving on to the actual list, let’s first discuss why promotion is important in blogging?
WHY PROMOTION IS IMPORTANT FOR YOUR BLOG?
There are many reasons why promotion is important in blogging. The primary goal with promotion is to bring traffic to your blog so that you can monetize it and start making income out of it.
Blogging is definitely a long term game and many people think that it’s all about just writing content.
But no.
Blogging includes designing a website, choosing a brand theme, designing graphics, doing SEO, publishing high quality content, promoting on different platforms, building an email list, creating courses, freebies etc. etc. etc.
Pretty overwhelming, right? This is where a lot of bloggers quit blogging.
It is overwhelming, yes. But if you really want to make a living out of it then yeah it’s worth doing all this work.
I read this phrase somewhere: You’ll spend more time promoting your content then actually creating your content. And I completely agree with this.
Imagine you are just writing 10 blogs per month without any promotion, without having any social identity on different platforms, without connecting with other fellow bloggers.
Do you expect to get any traffic on your site. I don’t think so. People won’t even trust your content like that. You can’t rank on Google like that too unless you are a pro SEO.
I think now you are starting to get what I am trying to say here. You have to let people know about your blog. You have to bring their attention to it by yourself. There’s no other way around this. Keep in mind:
If content is king then promotion is queen.
I know it can be pretty awkward at first promoting yourself. Being an introvert, I felt like that too. Over the time, I realized that I shouldn’t feel weird about promoting the content that I created myself.
This is a mistake I made my first 4 months blogging. I didn’t do any promotion and that resulted in me having zero page views daily. ZERO!
I don’t want you to make that mistake. So, lesson of the day: PROMOTE YOUR BLOG IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE.
Now, let’s move on to the main topic of this post 👇

10 SITES TO PROMOTE YOUR BLOG FOR FREE!
Here is a list of websites where you can promote your blogpost and bring traffic to it. My recommendation is to use social media along with these sites to promote your blog.
1- QUORA
I am sure you’ve definitely heard about Quora. It is a question and answer (QnA) related site where you can ask as well as answer the questions.
But how do you use Quora to promote your blogpost? Here’s how:
- Visit Quora and search a question related to your niche.
- Once you’ve found the question, write an answer to that question.
- This is your chance to promote your blogpost. Add an anchor text (clickable text) in your answer and link it to your blog post.
Here’s an example:
Remember this:
Whenever you leave links of your blog posts for promotion on different websites , make sure you are doing it in the form of anchor text (clickable text). Links without anchor text looks annoying and very promotional and it can result in you ending up with zero traffic.

2- MEDIUM
Medium is a story, article or blog sharing platform where you can promote your blogposts for free. The procedure of writing the blog is same as the WordPress editor which makes it easier to use.
Here’s how to use medium to get traffic on your blog post:
- Visit medium.com and create a free account.
- Once your account is created, optimize the name and bio of your account.
- Click on ‘write’ on the top right to start writing your blog.
- Include some anchor texts which redirects people to your actual blog post, write the full blog and hit publish.
Take a look here:
In case you are wondering, yes, you can republish your WordPress blog post to medium.
Medium itself says and I quote: “You are allowed to cross-post content from your blog to Medium, provided you own the rights for the content.”
3- REDDIT
I think most of you have heard about reddit, right? It is an online community where people talk about their hobbies, interests, favorites etc.
The best part is that it is really great platform for the marketing of your content. People are always asking for solutions to their problems on reddit and that’s the chance for you to promote your blogpost.
Reddit works the same as Quora. Here are the steps:
- Visit Reddit and search a question related to your niche.
- Once you’ve found the question, write an answer to that question.
- This is your chance to promote your blogpost. Add an anchor text (clickable text) in your answer and link it to your blog post.
Told you, it works the same as Quora 🙂
Recommendation:
One thing I want to recommend while promoting your content is, don’t sound too promotional while answering questions. Keep in mind that your purpose is promoting as well as giving answer/solution to a particular problem of a person.
4- FLIPBOARD
Flipboard is an online community where people share stories related to their interests. Here’s how you can promote your blogpost on flipboard:
- Go to flipboard.com and create an account.
- Once, you’ve created an account, click on top right to start writing your own content.
- Give a title your magazine. For example: if your niche is travel, just give the title to your magazine ‘travel’ or anything that you like.
- Start writing content and add links to your actual blog post.
Like this:
5- SCOOP IT
Scoop.it is a content publishing platform where business and bloggers can share their content through its content curation tool.
I’ve used scoop.it a lot. A LOT!
Using this site, you can promote your content as well as build high quality backlinks at the same time so there is no debate on why you shouldn’t use it.
Here’s how to promote on scoop.it:
- Visit scoop.it and sign up for a free account.
- Click on publish on the top left corner and click on ‘create topic’.
- Paste the link in the given section and fill up all the details to tell people about your content.
- After filling out the details, hit publish.
Like this:
6- VISUAL.LY
Visual.ly is an infographic sharing platform where you can share graphics related to your blog and leave a link to promote your content.
Until now, you must have noticed that the steps of promoting your content is somewhat similar on all the sites. The process is the same here also.
One thing you need to keep in mind here is that this site cannot be used for all niches.
Niches which are related to education, marketing, health and wellness etc. works better here because it’s easy to create infographics related to these niches.
7- SLIDESHARE
Slideshare is a pdf sharing platform where you can share your posts in the form of pdf’s.
This platform is similar to medium. The only difference is that you have to ‘upload’ your blog here in the PDF format.
I’ve used this platform a lot and I really like it. Just like scoop.it, you can promote your content as well as build high quality backlinks at the same time.
Here’s how to promote on Slideshare:
- Visit Slideshare and sign up for a free account.
- Once you are signed in, just click the ‘upload’ button on the top right.
- Browse the PDF file which you want to upload from your computer and select it.
- After selecting, fill out the details and let people know what your post is about. Use hashtags for a better reach.
In the PDF of your blog, make sure to add a link to your actual blogpost so that you get some traffic on your blog.
8- FLICKR
Flickr is an image sharing platform where you can share images related to your blogpost. It’s easy to use and a well known platform. Along with some blog traffic, you’ll also get some high quality backlinks to your site through this platform.
Here’s how to promote on Flickr:
- Visit Flickr.com and sign up for a free account.
- After signing up, click on the ‘upload’ button on top right.
- Choose the image you want to upload from your computer.
Now how do you leave a link here. I’ll tell you:
Flickr doesn’t offer an option to attach a link so this is what you need to do instead:
Steps to add a link to your blogpost on Flickr:
1. After choosing the image that you want to upload, add a title and description of that image to tell people about the image. Add a keyword related to the blogpost you want to promote in the description.
2. Search ‘wos group’ Google and click the first link. After opening the link, enter URL of the blogpost and keyword that you added in the description.
3. Click on generate hyperlinks and copy the ‘result format 2’ and paste it in the description of the image on Flick.
4. Add hashtags to increase reach and click publish.
Now let’s move on to the next site.
9- LISTLY
List.ly is a list sharing sites where bloggers and business owners share their content in the form of lists.
In the free version of List.ly, you can create up to 3 list.
All you need to do is to visit List.ly and click on ‘make a list’ on the top right.
The process is simple and you can easily figure it out. I recommend using this site to promote your top blogposts.
10- TUMBLR
Tumblr is a micro blogging and social networking platform where you can add short form blogs and promote your actual blogposts.
Tumblr is somewhat similar to reddit. You can see what’s trending in your niche and what your audience wants so that you can offer them your content and bring traffic to it.
It works like a social media platform and is very well known.
The process of uploading is similar to how you upload on any other social media platform. This site is one of my personal favorite and I recommend using it to promote your blogposts.
