In case, you don’t know much about SEO, I’ll explain the basics of it right here.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and as the name suggests, it means to optimize the content of your website to rank higher and higher on search engines like Google or Bing.

When you search for something on Google, you’ll get some results on the very top which means that content is optimized for search engines which leads to better visibility.

To put it simply, Do SEO = Higher Ranking and Higher Ranking = More traffic.

SEO is a very broad and deep topic and this is just its surface. You will gradually figure it out. This little description is just the basic concept of SEO.

Now, you may be wondering this ↓

WHY SHOULD YOU USE SEO TOOLS?

There are many brilliant reasons why you must use SEO tools. Here they are:

  • You can find keywords through these tools and use them to rank higher and higher on search engines.
  • You can find who your competitors are and what marketing techniques are they using to grow their online presence on search engines.
  • You can run an analysis through these tools and find out the SEO insights of your website, both on-page and off-page.
  • To build your trust with Google, you’ll need to build backlinks to make your site trustworthy. SEO tools can find backlink opportunities for you making the whole process much easier for you.
  • You’ll always need to keep an eye on your site’s SEO performance. These tools can do that for you.

These were all the major reasons to use SEO tools. Each tool has its specialty and you can do much more things by using them.

But, this post is not about this. Let’s move on to the actual list of the free tools for SEO, shall we?

BEST FREE SEO TOOLS FOR BLOGGERS AND MARKETERS

Here is a complete list of some of the best and free SEO tools for you:

1- GOOGLE SEO TOOLS

This list is incomplete without the 3 free Google SEO tools. If you don’t know about them, trust me, you are missing out on a lot!

Google itself provides some tools that are specially made to do SEO on your website. These three tools are- Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and Google Keyword Planner.

Each of these tools serves different features.

For example- through the Google search console, you can check the overall performance of your site on Google. Through Google Analytics, you can see the on-page and off-page SEO analytics of your site and through the Google keyword planner, you can find keywords for your content or blog.

I’ve discussed more about these tools in detail in this blog post so I recommend checking it out!

2- PAGE SPEED INSIGHTS

Did you know that the page load speed of your site is one of the most important ranking factors on Google?

So you have to make sure that your website has a page load speed below 0.2 seconds.

But how to find out the page load speed of your website? This is where this tool jumps in! All you have to do is enter the URL of your site and this tool will give you all insights and reports on the page load speed and performance of your site.

3- AHREFS FREE TOOLS

Ahrefs is an extremely popular SEO tool through which you can do advanced SEO of your site.

Although this tool has features that only a veteran SEO can understand, the amazing thing about it is that it offers many free tools too which newbies like us can easily use!

Ahrefs provides a total of 15 free tools but here is a list of the best ones:

All of these tools work like a charm and are pretty easy to understand and use. You should give them a try at least once.

4- ANSWER THE PUBLIC

Next on the list is a free keyword research tool called Answer the Public and this tool is an absolute gem for bloggers.

Just enter a term that is related to your content and you’ll get many trending and popular keywords for your content in just a couple of seconds.

For example, if I enter ‘chocolate cake recipe‘ as the term for my blog post, I’ll get the following results:

With this free keyword research tool, you have a limit of 3 daily searches so make sure to use it properly.

5- RANKMATH

RankMath is a WordPress plugin that is used to optimize the SEO of your website. This plugin is a must for you to install for better performance of your blog.

In the list of the best WordPress plugins, this plugin comes at the very top.

These plugins help you with everything SEO, whether it’s on-page SEO or technical SEO, they will make all the SEO work easier for you and your site.

6- SIMILARWEB

SimilarWeb is a very popular SEO tool through which you can get reports and analysis such as traffic, web analysis, and performance of any website.

I use this tool a lot and it’s one of my personal favorites. Just enter the URL of any website in this tool and you’ll get a detailed analysis of that site in a couple of seconds.

It’s worth a try so give it a go!

7- SMALL SEO TOOLS

I think this tool is very underrated because it’s such a great tool and many people don’t even know about it.

When I first started learning SEO, this was one of the first SEO tools I’ve used. And was I impressed by it? Yes, of course!

This tool has many mini free tools including a plagiarism checker, grammar checker, word counter, spell checker, keyword suggestion tools, backlink checker, broken link checker, website analyzer, and much more.

Isn’t it cool? This tool is a rabbit hole of SEO tools!

8- GOOGLE TRENDS

This is another tool provided by Google to find out what kind of searches are trending on Google.

I did not mention this tool in the 3 Google SEO tools list because it’s not necessarily an SEO tool but you can use this tool for SEO purposes.

Since I cannot explain everything about this tool in detail in this post, I recommend checking out this post by Backlinko on how to use Google Trends for SEO.

This post has a detailed explanation about this tool so check it out if you are interested.

9- MOZ’S FREE SEO TOOLS

If you have been doing SEO for a while now, you may have heard about Moz SEO tools and it’s Mozbar Chrome extension.

Moz’s SEO tools are amazing and the best thing is that even if you are a beginner, you won’t have any problems using it.

While most of the tools by Moz are paid, they offer some free tools too like link explorer, keyword explorer, competitor research, etc.

I have tried every free tool by Moz and I gotta say that they work like an absolute charm. Try the free tools here ↓

10- GOOGLE SITE KIT

This is another WordPress plugin for those people who have a WordPress site.

Google provided a plugin itself for WordPress users to see different website analyses like pageviews, traffic sources, backlink profiles, etc.

I would like to call this tool ‘the plugin version of Google Analytics’. It does the same job. The only difference is that you can see the analysis on your WordPress dashboard.
